Available publicly for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, the Ghost in the Shell VR experience allows viewers a glimpse into The Major’s journey – punctuated with glitches, action, and acrobatic intrigue – to find her ghost.

Built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 4 and Unity game engines, the experience brings the audience inside the newly reimagined virtual world of Ghost in the Shell.

My Contributions

  • Lead developer
  • Sequencing work throughout
  • Created realistic jellyfish system
  • Created dynamic ‘echo pulse’ shader
  • Created parametric time dilation system for slowing down/speeding up the action
  • Scene optimisation for <11ms frame time
  • Created interactive voxel VFX when inside of the giant fish hologram
  • VFX work including intro scene and glitch effects throughout
  • Created dynamic traffic system in city rooftop scene
